Often times, we find how we are being told about marketing and what works but one thing we don’t hear about is why. Why is marketing such an integral part to running a business?
Sometimes it’s much easier to share the principles rather than describe the reason for marketing.
Social media happens to be one of those great resources to share your business and experience. If done correctly, social media can be your marketing.
Below this video (which does a great job showing what Social Media is really about) are some posts where we directly speak to social media and the benefit it’ll have in your business…

I love the way you put links on the page that relate to the subject, what a great Idea.
Also saw the book in the must read “excuse me your life is waiting” I enjoyed reading that one.
Have you read any of Esther and Jerry Hicks, the teachings of Abraham?
Have a great day.
Yorinda
Thank you Yorinda.

Hi Ratliff,
Social Media definitely plays a crucial role in building up the Online Marketing! It really creates a good rapport among the members. Thank You for this post….
Jerome, It’s no brainer to see that social media is here to stay for good. Given vast variety of the existing channels to choose and stick with, it’s time for such a hot space to enter into a new category. There is a need for a portal to provide a quick and intelligent decision for both the consumer and the enterprise about their online connections.
A Platform to Help us to Distinguish Our Quality vs. Quantity Friends, Fans, Followers, and Companies
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, Flickr and others have been doing a decent job of providing additional marketing exposure and even in some cases, additional revenue. However, as more and more social networking sites pop up, how do you manage your brand across all these channels? Maybe more importantly, which one of these sites should you select as the one that will help you best reach your target audience? The proliferation of the social media avenues is becoming overwhelming.
This glut of information reminds me of the early 90’s when WWW was adopted broadly by the general public. Every company rushed to have a presence, to the point it became literally impossible to find the right information on the Web. That’s when a better generation of search engines – at first the Yahoo! and then Google – entered the market and helped us find the most relevant information by just typing simple keywords in their search box. If you had asked before Google launched, if there was a need for another search engine – most would have said no, we already have those….
Then came Web 1.0 & 2.0 – Youtube, Flickr, myspace, Facebook, Twitter and countless others have turned everyday people into content producers, influencers and experts. We basically tripled down on the information overload How do you know which channels to select for deploying your social media strategy? How do you know which one is the right channel to let your fans and followers to find you, your products, and services? Most importantly, who is Joe Smith that is recommending that person, that company, that product?
I hope my awesomize.me can accomplish such a mission. The site is not another social networking platform. Yet the portal to all your existing social media channels. The platform helps you, your fans, your potential clients to make an intelligent decision as to which company to connect to or follow via which social media channels and why? It’s free!

Hi Elias,
Thanks for dropping in…
This is so very true, social media is not going anywhere anytime soon. I one of the things people forget about is that social media will never fully replace human interaction. That human interaction is irreplaceable. There are feelings, emotions, expressions that conjure up when you are talking to a person face-to-face. I think the closest social media will get to true interaction is when the functionality of doing live video feed amongst two or more people exists. It won’t be entirely the same as face-to-face but it sure will be mighty close.
Thanks for such a moving comment. I wish you the best over at awesomize.me.
Take care and “BE” prosperous,
Jerome Ratliff

Using social media in the right way can greatly help your business. And yes, social media happens to be one of those great resources to share your business and experience. You can never imagine how the power of social media can brought traffic to your website.
Warmly,
Jason
For me the big turning point with social media is the introduction of smart phones. Not just the iphone, but the more accessible, mid-range phones that are just as good. I never used facebook before, but on an app it is so powerful. All businesses need to have social media within their marketing plan.

I think social media is still evolving, things will be a lot more different two years from now. It will be more personal. But as an advertiser or a business, it certainly is a great platform to reach customers and make a brand value. This is evident with the fact that a lot of large corporations are using Facebook for their brands.
Hi Nancy,
Agree – I think it will get as close as it possibly can to “personal” interaction. It may take awhile but it’s just a matter of time.
Definitely if you’re a business, you don’t want to miss out on this social media wave.
Thanks much for taking time to visit us today.

Given how it’s evolving it’s difficult to see what social media is going to be in a few years. I have to say it’s changed my life though, making it easy to access far more information of interest. It’s because of following people on Twitter/Facebook who have something to say. What they say is their product, not what they make or what they do. It’s who you are that’s the product and that’s difficult for a marketing team to implement on demand. Not impossible though. The Japanese have fictitious pop stars, video creations, with their own followings so maybe it would be credible to create a fake personna on social media that resonated with the majority.
I think a lot of people are finally coming around and starting to use all the social media outlets that are available to us.
With the very popular and ever growing sites like facebook and twitter, the ability to target and reach out to the people we want to, is fast becoming easier and faster.
Who knows where this will end up.

I agree but what this people should look out in the future is not just social media but social commerce as well. I foresee the future of marketing will highly be dependent in this medium.

Yes! There is so much more Social Media can be. I can see it going the commerce route and I can even see it take on a completely different name. The best part has always been for me the “social” aspect. It certainly has helped. It hasn’t replaced anything yet but it’s definitely made a difference.
Thanks for adding in your comments.

Thanks for the post Jerome! Its really great how social media could help us connect to those who are dear to us but also expand business opportunities and choices.
People need to realize that in order to make your marketing business a success, you have to turn to social networking sites which pools in a great number of potential clients. Not only are social networking sites easily available, signing up is free, too!

The video to this article is far out. It shows you everything you may need to know about advertising and the connection it has with social media website. Very well put.
Good video. Even though many services might die off, overall social media is a natural extension of how people communicate. This is clearly shown by how quickly some of these networks have been able to grow.
Even though everyone and their dog has a Tweetbook account now, there still is a lot of opportunity for people. If someone focuses on creating quality content and has a process to promote it, they should be able to grow. No matter what new networks come out or what technological change happens.
