Yesterday was one of those crazy days, boy do I love those. So – I was talking with another marketer on Facebook and I happened to notice an advertisement out of the corner of my eye.
It was about being afraid and fearing the worst. I was very interested in this ad because it had the solution to conquer fear, but what was crazy is it was a pharmaceutical company selling their meds.
It really dawned on me… How many people out there are living their life in fear?
You’ve no doubt heard of what FEAR stands for – False Evidence Appearing Real.
After I saw that ad, I thought to myself, swinging monkeys that’s crazy! Medication to help people overcome fear! I’m not one to judge and I wondered if more people knew what I knew about fear, would they have a different experience?
Now, everyday we all encounter fear, but how we choose to overcome it is up to us. What I’ve found to really work for me was understand why I was truly feeling this way and was it even real.
So – the feeling was real but it was related to something I haven’t even experienced yet. In other words, I was fearing of what is going to happen even though it didn’t happen.
Can you imagine if I would’ve continued to feel this way and didn’t recognize this?
With that information I was able to really assess the situation and ask myself that crazy question, “Why in the world am I feeling this way when I haven’t faced it yet?”
I don’t know about you, but for me it was like a wake up call. I had this opportunity to face fear head-on. And that’s exactly what I did and after I did that I found myself no longer fearing that particular thing.
What I learned was when we imagine fear, what we are actually doing is using our imagination against ourselves as if we were currently experiencing the end result.
As a network marketer, home business owner, or a marketing professional we see a lot of people stuck in fear. They are either afraid of being successful, of talking to other people, or afraid of the unknown, and what they actually are doing is preventing themselves from overcoming fear.
In most cases, this is why we see such a high failure rate in the home business industry. They are afraid of something and rather than eliminate that fear they return to their comfort zone, which may mean returning to their JOB.
Now, what do you do if you are faced with fear?
What I do by facing fear head-on is I follow this simple acronym which you may have heard me say before. It’s because for me this nips fear in the bud.
I call it S.T.A.R.T. and it stands for…
Stop – It means don’t do one more thing to bring this fear on.
Take a break – Take a break from what you are doing to switch your concentration off fear.
Acknowledge – Understand why you are currently experiencing this feeling.
Realize it’s not real – It says it all in of itself.
Take control – It means you are in control of what it is to become and not worry about fear.
The next time you are starting to feel fear enter in your life/home business/whatever, use S.T.A.R.T.
When you do, I trust you’ll find yourself concentrating more on the things you DO want and doing the necessary things to bring them to reality.
Please don’t let fear hold you back.
So if you knew what you now know about fear, don’t you think you’d be able to overcome it? What’s your greatest fear that is holding you back that we can help you with?
