Strategically Communicate With Your Prospects

Have you ever wondered how to effectively communicate with your prospects?

Well, today I took this course where we dived into Strategic Communication.

Communication is one of those areas it’s important to know you are using effectively. Otherwise it can be a complete waste of everyone’s time.

Can you imagine if message my didn’t sense make? :)

As you can tell by my slight humor, it does make a difference.

It can be very confusing for your reader to understand what it is you’re talking about if there is no flow and it doesn’t make sense.

As we were learning in this course, we reviewed how to prepare your communication.

Here are the elements to incorporate when preparing a communication (either face to face or written) known as the three Ps:

1. Purpose – What is the reason (goal) for the communication.
2. Planning - What are the series of steps that comprise of your process.
3. Process – How are you going to reach the goal.

In addition to the three Ps, there is a term called Emotional Intelligence (EI).

It’s a fascinating topic and if you ever want to read up on it, I highly encourage you to do so.

Because not all people are in alignment with your message, EI allows you take things into consideration.

For example, by integrating EI into your communication, it helps you identify your audience’s emotion, assess the situation, and manage their emotions.

The allows for your communication to be that more effective and strategic.

By focusing on ensuring each of these areas are taken into consideration for your communication, you essential increase your chances of being clear and understood.

This can be some important advice for us in the home business industry. Everyday we are working with people either in person, over the phone or written.

What we need to make sure we are doing is that we are straight to the point and don’t lose anyone in our message.

Here, imagine you were telling a business prospect about the business and then you decided to go off on a tangent.

Before you know it, you’ve been yapping for 30 minutes and you haven’t even covered what you needed to. You certainly did not stick to the three Ps.

And because of that, you would have been ineffective!

This is why strategically communicating is important to us home business owners.

We want to be as effective as possible so our prospects are able to make an educational decision on what they would like to do rather than be uncertain in what they just learned.

And, going into a prospect call we need to consider what the questions are upfront and minimize them by incorporating them in our message.

This one has everything to do with the Planning element.

Have you ever ventured off into improving your communications? Have you read any fascinating material or participated in a course that you would like to share with us?

Let us know.
