Was it about having a mentor that can improve what can be achieved in someone’s home business?
Mentors serve as teacher or a trusted counselor who provides guidance to someone in need of assistance. Consider having a mentor as a form of self-help. They are there to help those who want help.
So, having a mentor for your home business that will assist you in expanding what you can do in your business creates some accountability of you.
When people are held as accountable, there tends to be a feeling of obligation. When someone is obligated, they will feel more or less like they should do it rather than disappoint their mentor.
This is key to your survival in your home business.
Quite a while back, I received mentorship from the Rich Dad Coaching program, Robert Kiyosaki had designed for entrepreneur seekers through his Rich Dad business.
There was a initiation process which you had to pass in order to be accepted into the program. What a concept hey? It involved, more or less, what do you FEEL you are capable of achieving. In addition, they made it very clear that YOU are being held accountable for your success. You can lead a horse to water, but you can make him drink.
I soon discovered how being held accountable every single week is what I was missing in my home business. It prevented procrastination from interfering, laziness, and lack of direction.
This expanded my mind on what I can achieve if I just put my mind to it, make no excuses, and just taking action.
Mentoring can expand on what you would like to achieve in your home business.
Imagine you have this idea of how you really want to expand your business. You’ve done some research and you’re not sure what to do. Although, you have an idea of what would work, but because you lack inexperience in this area, you prefer getting some confirmation.
Here is where a mentor will help you. Talk it over with them. Tell them your plans. Share everything you want to do. Do you want to know what they will tell you once you’ve given them all of the pieces?
They will… Not tell you what to do or choose! They will basically work with you in talking it through which of your options best suits you. This is where guidance and accountability comes into play. Their job is to guide you and make you accountable, not them. You have to make the decision.
But, after talking with your mentor, you will soon realize you had the plan already figured out in your head but you just needed to talk to someone about it. This is the beauty of talking it through with a mentor. They will ask you all of the right questions.
Back when I was with the Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Coaching program, there was a time I had this idea in how I wanted to increase my financial portfolio. I put together a plan, based on my mentor’s guidance. Once I completed my analysis and plan, I thought I knew which way to go, but wasn’t confident yet.
Well, they helped me talk it out and sure enough, what I thought I knew was write, was write for ME.
So, what is write for you? Figure it out on your own or get a mentor to help you figure it out?
Here’s the beauty on mentoring. Not only can you get mentoring from an actual person, but you can also get it from reading books, CDs, DVDs, seminars, etc. As long as what you are following is allowing you to logically think through what you want to do, these sources can teach you by providing you with the necessary guidance needed to succeed in your home business.
If you haven’t given mentoring a try, start off with reading some books by well known resources. Then venture off into the realm of hiring a mentor. You will soon see that mentoring can expand on what you can achieve in your home business.
What has been your mentoring experience? We’d like to hear what positive experience you’ve had with it. Let us know.
