How to Use the Slight Edge

Some time ago, Jeff Olson wrote a book called The Slight Edge. An excellent book that discusses the difference between doing little things over a period of time versus the affect of not doing them and waiting to become the next overnight success.

Jeff Olson discovered the true secret to making him wildly successful. And, it didn’t happen over night. No, he used the the Slight Edge.

How to Use the Slight Edge in Your Home Business

The Slight EdgeWhat is the slight edge anyway and how can it help you?

The slight edge is a process by which how and when you decide to do things. Very simply stated, it means when you’re doing small tasks over time, you will experience the compound effect. When you experience the compound effect, your home business begins to undergo some positive changes.

Just to give you an example, let’s say you call prospects every single day and for the last 60 days you’ve only enrolled one distributor and one customer. Not that great right? Well, over that 60 days, you continue to prospect every single day no matter what. After 60 days comes, you start noticing a difference. You’re enrolling more distributors and customers. Why?

The reason is over the 60 days, you’ve changed. You’ve improved your prospecting skills. And, as you improved, you began building a name for yourself. People began recognizing who you are and the seriousness you put into your business.

And, it just so happens that a few of the people who you did prospect over the 60 days knew someone else who was really looking for what you had.

This is what the slight edge is. It’s the little, what you may see as insignificant, steps day-in and day-out that lead to your success. To some though, they will not think this is the slight edge. They will attribute your success to becoming an overnight success. That’s nonsense!

Jeff Olson knew there was no such thing as overnight success. It appears that way to people, but the events and tasks that led up to the moment, because they weren’t fascinating or huge tasks, people didn’t realize that’s what was bringing you the success.

Now you know differently and if you think the little things you are doing every single day are not leading to anything, you’re wrong. They are and they will.

The fact of the matter is, all successful people experience this, but very few describe those little steps and decisions that were made to lead them where they are today. People only want to hear about the big exciting things.

I’m sorry, but life doesn’t work like that. However, I’m not stating that those little steps don’t have to be exciting, because they should. Especially if you want to have fun in your home business.

So, have fun and start using and accepting The Slight Edge that is working in your favor.

Have you experience the slight edge in your home business?
