Don’t Do This in the Forums

Score Bonus Points in Network MarketingHey, would you like to score some bonus points in your primary network marketing opportunity?

Recently I was surfing some interesting tips and articles on BetterNetworker.com. As I normally I do, I look through the forums to see how I can help out other people along with learning new things here and there.

Well, as I was looking through the forum, there appeared to be some newbies posting comments, and let’s just say I was dumbfounded.

I couldn’t believe the comments I was reading. Some people didn’t even comment much about the forum post and they immediately jumped into, I’m looking for two people to join my business who…

I nearly puked. (Pardon the pun, but it’s true.) I remember when I thought it was ok to do that. Well, it is ok, but it’s just not very good business practices. For one, people don’t know who you are and you immediately jump into “Join my business”.

I just wanted to reach out to these people and say, “Hey, you’re really doing yourself a disservice by posting your ‘join my business’ tactic.” You see if they only knew how to do it the right way, then they would probably get more people to join them.

Here’s what they could’ve done instead, which would provide by far, better results. Oh, you can use these techniques to when posting in the forums.

  1. When commenting on a post, be sure you provide good feedback or constructive criticism. This will position yourself as a leader.
  2. At the end of your post, put an unique tagline about what you do. I use hypnotic words in my taglines like, “Imagine where your business will be in five years if you learned this MLM secret”.
  3. Post a thumbnail (if possible) of you or your business logo. This says I’m real and/or so is my business.
  4. Create a hyperlink that has a call to action like, “Want to recruit 5 reps in 10 days, then click here”. This will certainly make them wonder and want to click on the link to your site.

The hole idea of using forums is to look for quality people to network with and either work on future projects together or looking for someone you want to join you in your network marketing business.

But what will really make a difference is while in the forums, commenting or posting, you provide meaningful content people can use. I know you’ve heard me say that many times, but it’s critical and why it must be repeated.

So, back to what I saw in the forums recently. I sent a personal message to the person that made that ballsy approach.

Here’s what I didn’t say, “I saw your post in the forums today and I can’t believe you commented on someone’s post by asking people to join your business.”

I didn’t feel that was the best way to do it. The best way was to get in touch with this person teaching them about how I create instant rapport in the forums for my network marketing opportunity.

Here’s what I did say, “I saw your post in the forums today and I wanted to connect with you. I was intrigued by your post and thought I would share this with you…” I then went on to tell that person what I do and how I get results.

This positions you as a leader and at the same time, we can’t judge anyone just because they made a mistake. This person could become a future distributor of yours and become one of your diamonds. And, that’s why we take the consultative approach of “how can I help you”.

Would you like to learn more ways to create instant rapport with future distributors? What are some ways you use forums to help you with your networking business?
