How many people have you heard wine and say, “But how do I get more distributors?”
I was recently talking with a fellow business partner and they were telling me how they hit a brick wall with their business.
Lead after lead, they just could not sign up anyone into their team.
Which is kind of ironic, because this was no ordinary person. This person was a recruiting machine.
However, for some reason what was working for them just suddenly stopped.
I offered up a quick solution, “Perhaps how you’re coming off is not jiving with your message.”
This could be the very reason why they couldn’t get more distributors into their team.
Being their friend, I said, “Why don’t we role play and I’ll tell you how I think you sound?”
We both agreed this was a good idea. She shared with me her script and we proceeded.
She had gotten into the introduction nicely and I didn’t feel threatened or bothered in any fashion.
It was off to a great start. She began to ask me some questions, I answered and then she went onto the next question. I immediately noticed that she wasn’t getting to know me. You know, FORM!
She said, “Well, I use to do that but this is where I began to lose people.”
I asked to her to give me an example and she mentioned as she asked questions, the people would feel like they were being interrogated.
I asked her why and she said, “I just know.” “Well if you believe that, then that’s exactly how you will come across,” I told her.
We decided to switch this up and to go in with a different mindset of “How you are helping them and they need you.” We started over and went through the entire script. I asked her, “How was that, did that help any?”
She agreed it did. Later on that day she tried it out, but didn’t have the same result.
She later told me she figured out what it was. It was her!
And BINGO was her nameo…
She said that she had been depressed lately about some personal things and confidently believed they were interfering.
At that moment, she decided if she wanted to get more distributors and clients that she had to set her personal issues aside and she did.
You know what it was that caused this person to switch their approach?
She had junk coming into her life and junk was coming out.
She had to wash her mouth out with soap (lack of a better term) in order to have a clean spoken approach.
She determined she needed to fix the “YOU” first. And I kid you not, it worked like a charm. This raised her confidence so much that she tried it the very next day and easily got a new client.
Sometimes if you’re not getting the results you want in your home business, like how to get more distributors, then there is a good chance you need to fix yourself first.
Talk about not easy to do. I know! However, if you are aware of it, which is the key, then there is a good chance you can fix it.
So, what is the purpose of all of this?
Well, it just shows that even a professional needs help.
Whether you are a professional or just getting started, if you find that you are currently struggling, then what you need to do is be aware of what you are doing and understand how you are coming across.
!!!Please, don’t be afraid to do some role playing!!!
Your mentor, upline or a friend is a great person to try this with. They will be brutally honest with you and this will serve you.
And this way you can fix the problem, get unstuck, and move on.
Have you ever had to wash your mouth out before? I know I have…

Hi Jerome,
This is sound advice my friend. The quickest way to analyze your results is to look in the mirror. This is painful, uncomfortable and just plain terrible if you dig deep enough. The pay-off? Your pay-off! By analyzing yourself in the light of truth or asking a friend to critique you the evidence of your failures stares you straight in the eye.
Stick with it long enough and you’ll find all kinds of blockages buried deep within your being. Goodness knows that I have
Thanks for your keen insight Jerome. Have a wonderful day!

Awesome post Jerome! I am totally convinced that unconscious beliefs vibrate in the conscious world and affect what one is able to attract! Well done fro helping her to untangle the mess. You are right sometimes it takes an objective eye and ear to pick up on we are not seeing and hearing.

Marcus,
Oh the unconscious beliefs, do I ever believe in that. Very cool that we see it the same way.
What’s pretty cool about this situation is all I did was provide the objective eye. They weren’t even in my team. I just knew I could help.

Hi Jerome,
I think that if you are doing something one way for so long and it works a little bit of complacency can creep in, it happens to the best of us. So to recognise that something is wrong and do something about it show great leadership. Great post.

Hey Jerome, thats a never ending topic to discuss and learn about.
Many people are absolutely great with all other areas in business, but less self-secured when it comes to concrete talk with prospects.
Everything we talk about in our articles, comes to one point – to work much on ourselves before we can expect results.
And of course as alcoholics cant be cured before they admit they have a problem, marketers also can’t really move forward before admitting to themselves they are doing something wrong.
Great post,
Milena
You’re absolutely right Milena.
We need to start with ourselves, correct the problem, then be able to be the solution.
Have a super weekend,
Jerome Ratliff
Hey Jerome,
It all starts with ourselves. It’s just not always easy to figure out how we’re screwing it up.
That’s great that you were able to step in and do some talking and role playing. That can be a tremendous help!
Have a great weekend!
Susanna
Hi Susanna,
Yes, sometimes it isn’t so obvious. Some people take years to figure this out. This was definitely a rare case, and I had no idea it would’ve ended up as it had.

Hey Jerome,
Posture has a ton to do with closing sales. If you act needy and clingy, prospects will not walk, but sprint the other way. You have to get your mindset in that state of abundance like Dillard talks about. As soon as it really doesn’t matter whether someone signs up or not, you will start closing a ton of people.
Good post,

Hi Jerome,
Awesome post and sound advice!
Just the other day my husband was down in the dumps sounding like eeyore every time he opened his mouth. He needed to make some phone calls to his mortgage clients. I told him NOT to pick up that phone until he felt better. (Actually we went for a walk and that lifted his spirits.)
It’s never a good idea to prospect (or even call your downline) if you are depressed or if something negative is going on in your life. It definitely WILL come through in the conversation.
Again, awesome post! Thanks for sharing!
Have a fantastic weekend!

Oh eeyore… hum, hum, hum.
I totally agree with that. The last thing you want to do when you’re down in the dumpster is talk to anyone. They will immediately pick up on it. Not worth it.
Have a super duper weekend,
Jerome Ratliff
Hey Jerome,
Isn’t it strange and powerful how the mind works? We all need a Mental Cleanse sometimes to quieten down the chatter and be in the moment. When we’re prospecting, we have to be “in tune” with the prospect at all times. Letting the noise get in the way means disaster.
Wayne
Hey Wayne,
It’s so awesome how powerful our mind works.
What’s even more interesting is we are only using just a very small percentage of it. Now that’s crazy.
have a great weekend,
Jerome Ratliff
Jerome,
Nicely done!
This post is really something EVERYONE needs to take
a look at. My marketing system’s group has a prospecting

I use a tape recorder and critique myself.
It works well. Have a great weekend Jerome!
