Bake at 1 year and…
I thought I’d start off today’s post as a metaphor to baking or cooking. With baking or cooking you’re following a recipe. Unless you know it by heart, you’ve got a small chance it will turn out any good. More or less, a disastrous meal.
The way we run our network marketing is just like a recipe. There are certain things required to be a network marketer, and then at times you have to add a little spice to accommodate the situation you’re presented with.
Jack Canfield once said, “…if you want to reach a new level of success in your life, it takes nothing more than following a proven recipe.”
If you don’t follow a proven recipe, then you’re bound for disaster. If you didn’t, then before you know it, you will be so frustrated that you will either get help (which you should do) or you will quit.
Trust me on this, get help and you will never have to quit. Besides, quitting is not even an option.
Here’s what a recipe for MLM disaster would look like…
“Bob joins my business and shortly after joining, I put Bob on the fast track. I provide him all the necessary tools, training, and mentoring. Bob is very appreciative for all of the information. However, Bob is reluctant to following my lead. So Bob decides to do it his way and the rest is history.”
What did we learn about Bob? He did not follow the recipe for success!
Even if Bob decided to only implement a few of the techniques, he would’ve had more success than had he not.
Way too many people believe they have their own formula. I can say this because I was one of those people.
When I started I was all for the training, mentoring, etc. But then after a while, I was like, uh uh, this is not for me and I’m going to do it my own way. What a big mistake that was!
It wasn’t until I started failing that I needed to go back. After going back and incorporating the new things I learned, that is when things started happening.
Wouldn’t it had been easier if I followed the recipe and along the way learned new ways of running my business then incorporating them a little at a time? It sure would have.
If you’re looking for disaster, especially when you’re provided everything on a silver plater and choose to not follow the recipe for success, then be sure to ignore everything your leader/upline teaches you. I hope you will not choose that route, because this is your business we are talking about here. Why would you sabotage your network marketing business when you don’t have to.
Here’s the best advice I can give you.
Follow what your leader does and if there are some things you don’t entirely agree with, then you don’t have to do it. But know that sometimes you will feel uncomfortable, and that’s good. That means you’re learning something new. And the more you learn and implement, the better you’ll be.
What kind of disaster have you encountered that you would like to share so others could learn what not to do and how you overcame it?
