In our previous post, we talked about increasing your prospect to lead conversion rates specifically with your sign up form.
If you haven’t read it, you can do so here.
Today’s post we are going to show you another way we have been able to increase our conversions.
In fact, for some of the ads we increased our conversions as high as 133%.
Crazy, I know.
I couldn’t believe it either when we first saw it.
However, we wouldn’t have known how it was going to turn out unless we tested it.
Here’s a screen shot that shows this with a very specific niche for the last 2 months.
So here’s what we did.
Blogging Tip to Increase Your Prospect to Lead Conversion Rate
On our capture page we have a headline, video and a sign up form.
Aside from the headline and the sign up form, we decided to target the video.
One video we had me standing in front of the camera letting our subscribers know what they can expect to learn from Maverick Business Builders.
The other video was a video created in Powerpoint and a voice over.
Initially, video #1 had a conversion rate of 23.3%, which was lower than what we had previously. That had a conversion rate of 37.3%.
For video #2, we initially had a conversion rate of 200%. That’s right!
Now since we weren’t sure how well either of the two would turn out, we let each of the two capture pages run at the same time over a two month period.
The winner was video #2.
We had the very same ads we orginally used, but now pointing to the new capture page that had over a 100% conversion rate.
For some reason people clicked with the Powerpoint presentation and the voice over, versus watching and listening to me.
I hope that’s not a good indication… LOL
If you haven’t seen the capture page, you can view it on our home page here and get some ideas how this can help you.
This is just another way you can leverage within your capture page to increase your prospect to lead conversion rates.
Give it a try by split testing a variety videos and see which one comes out as the winner.
Have you had any results like this with split testing your video or any other method on your capture page?
Let us know as we’d love to hear more from you.

A powerpoint with a voice over…who would have thought??
Maybe because everyone else is standing in front of the camera and doing the same thing, the fact that you did something different made it stand out. After all, we’re all being sold using the same techniques day in and day out.
Interesting point you discovered.
Have a great week!

Hi Jerome,
I would figure that a personalized video leads to a higher conversion rate. Perhaps Twila’s noting of you doing something different caused the spike.
I went from a personalized video to no video on my capture page recently. I didn’t experience a surge but did seen an increase in subscribers.
Thanks for sharing the food for thought

hey Ryan,
I believe this is what happened in making the difference.
Have a great day,

Hey Jerome,
This doesn’t surprise me. Whenever I use a capture page I always use a video with a voice over. The main reason is because when you create a video yourself it is more towards branding. From all the years of me using capture pages I always pulled in more leads from a non-branded video or page. It is less threatening to the prospect.

Jerome, your like a mad scientist, I love it. Great information….it has me thinking back to 2003 when I first launched my blog and I started sending Google PPC traffic to a horrible replicated web site. People had no idea what a blog was, let alone a split test.
Folks who think they are behind today have no idea. I can read a handful of blogs today and gain such incredible knowledge in minutes.
Thanks for the great insight.

Hi Ty,
How great to see you, the master of blogging to stop by…
I remember when I first heard the term split testing back in 2007. I only knew about it. It wasn’t until 2008 I started to put it to use.
So glad I did.
Have an awesome day,
Jerome Ratliff
P.S. I’m sure others around here will be pleased to hear from you as well. Thanks again!!!

This is some very useful information Jerome but your posts are always value packed! I think the reason you had a higher click rate on your power point is the fact people like to read along as they listen helps with retention? Just a thought.

It’s crazy how much people like those powerpoint videos, isn’t it?!

Split-testing at its finest! You never know what your audience will respond to so it’s best to get rid of all expectations and let the results speak for themselves. Very powerful!
Absolutely. You never know, so why not split test to see which one comes out as the winner.
Have a wonderful day Team Oberfoell.
Jerome Ratliff
Wow Jerome, this is really interesting.
I just put a new video up, and am making another with some changes to split test with it. (on my membership site)
Originally I had it as a power point with voice over but was told it was boring.
LOL So I changed it and got in front of the camera for about a minute, and then did a power point with upbeat music, and have some great feedback on that one so far.
Not done yet though, got a few tips so will be split testing it against another version.
Love reading about your tests and results. Totally awesome, THANKS!
Susanna
Hi Susanna,
That’s great you’re doing that. Because you sort of a different experience, this why everyone should split test.
I will be sharing some more tests and results in the coming days.
Have a great day,

Man, you just hit the nail on the head about why I love testing. It is scientific and you will always be working to improve conversions. I spend a couple hours a week doing nothing but tracking and tweaking tests I am continuously running.
Great Post,
Eric
Hey Eric,
I’m right there with you. It’s important that we do this if we want to improve our results.
Jerome Ratliff
Hey Jerome,
That’s very interesting, and counter intuitive because you’d think the video with you standing there would connect with the audience better because they can see your face and body language (…that could be a big thing…). So it’s surprising that the less personable video got the better conversion.

Wayne,
I think what did it Wayne is the video was informative, straight to the point, and non threatening. Sure, that could have been accomplished being in front of the camera, but for some reason it didn’t pull in the results.
You just never know and why it’s important to test and track the results.
Have a good one,
Jerome Ratliff
Jerome,
I never did a case study, but I noticed my powerpoint Capture videos convert at like twice the rate if not 5-6 times the rate of other videos.
People like reading words… It’s more stimulating to all their senses.
Glad you shared this tip man… More people need to do this.

Wow…You know there has been conversations going around about using powerpoint videos. But I agree without split testing its hard to say. Some say ppl want to see the person others say that powerpoint is in. Great post.

Now even people who are scared to get in front of the camera have no excuse right?
Conversion % is such a strange thing, actually the best converting page I ever had was just a headline and a leading question.
