Last week we issued a special challenge to all of our readers to share with us what their biggest hint in how to build a successful home business was.
From all of the comments, it was hard to pick just one. Albeit, we decided on one that really stood out.
It was the comment by Susanna Hess.
Susanna shares with us her “Big Hint”….Enjoy!
**********************************
Jerome’s post “A Big Hint in How to Build a Successful Home Business” got me thinking.
What were the big deals that helped me get to my current level of success?
For me it was embracing the things I knew I had to do, no matter how I felt. It’s been consistently doing, in spite of my fears.
Human nature is that we want reassurance and encouragement when we’ve put ourselves out there. We want someone to notice when we talk. We want to know that we’ve done a good job when we’re finished…
When you start a blog there is generally a lot of emotion involved. You wonder if you’ll have enough to write about. If people will even visit it, and if they do, will they like it enough to come back?
When you post and all you hear are crickets, you may wonder why it’s not working. Where all the people are (that supposedly will be flocking to your blog and getting on your list).
So the answer to Jerome’s question for me was:
“Doing exactly what I was scared to death to do.
To keep doing it, when no one noticed. To make it better even before anyone knew it existed.
It was typing posts when my hands were literally shaking so bad I was missing keys.
It was posting my first article on Better Networker with my heart racing and forcing myself to click the button to post it.
It’s been the consistent action, no matter what I’m feeling, that has brought me the most success so far.”
It has been consistently devouring books and trainings to improve myself, which then improves my business.
It’s been the realization that people can get their training from anywhere they choose, and if I don’t allow them to see ME, they will have no reason to trust me, know me, like me, or come back to me.
Set aside your fears, plow through them, stand on top of them… or whatever you have to do to move beyond them.
Then take the consistent actions required to daily move your business forward. NO MATTER WHAT.
Even if no one notices. Do it anyway.
If no one notices, if no one says yes, if no one joins you… and you KEEP developing yourself, and taking action. You’re getting some really great practice!
If no one notices, learn what it takes to get noticed. In the meantime, keep practicing!
Even before anyone knows you exist online, before anyone joins you or knows how valuable you already are, daily get better, and constantly do the actions required.
Learn it, do it… Learn it, do it…. Learn it, do it…
Soon, people will notice. People will care. People will join you.

Hi Jerome,
I think she hit the nail on the head. If a person stays in their “comfort zone”, that is exactly where they will stay!

Thanks Susanna and Jerome, super inspiring post
I shared the same exact fear. Even when my confidence grew I was still afraid of networking. Writing for a few people was fine but putting my work out their for seasoned network marketing veterans to consume was terrifying. That’s why I waited so long to decide to network, but am glad that I conquered the fear not too long ago.
You must acknowledge the fear and move forward. Fear is just a bunch of silly little waves in the mind anyway. Don’t be afraid of the waves

You know I was fearful of writing something for a long time. I was too afraid of what people may think of me. Then I realize that I wasn’t going to get anywhere for not writing anything so I started to gradually write. After some time people start coming to my blog and commenting. I even have people ask me to give them advice from out of no where. That’s the greatest feeling!!! Great post!!!

Hi Jerome,
I know what happened on my blog When I was scared to death, absolutely nothing, not even a cricket.
I started making timid little comments on the JasonBetter blog and as my confidence grew I ventured to the blogs of “The Better Bunchers”.
Then a new fear, how do I reply to the comments from the incredible Networkers visiting my blog?
The answer, one at a time. I’m still working through that one, but I’ll get there.
Great tip Susanna. And Awesome post Jerome<

This is a great feature. Susanna has done an excellent job. I was inspired by the words of breaking through one’s fear and just keep going even if no one else notices.

Hey Jerome,
Thanks for sharing Susanna’s article! And Susanna, thanks for sharing your most personal feelings with us.
I know how it feels. I am always second-guessing if what I do is good enough. There is so much great talent out there, how can I possible measure up? But then I know that I only get better by watching and copying those who are great already.
And that’s what I keep doing.
Thanks for sharing this, guys!

Hi Jerome,
Susannas comment is amazing because she did what most people don’t do: Doing what needs to be done regardless if they feel good about or not, on a daily consistent basis. Additionally I like your attitude of plodding forward, moving on even if nobody notices you (yet). Keep up your great work.
Take care

Probably has something to do with the fact that, unlike most other species, we know we will die some day, and this stuff just reminds some people of that fact..
I can definitely see that.
The fear of the inevitable. That’s trying for a lot of people. I know at times it is for me.
