Ever Wonder What it Takes to Build a Team Culture?
This is a very common area in the home business world where a lot of people get stuck with. What you will find even more interesting is it doesn’t matter if you have a team or not.
So – here I’m going to share with you what networkers can apply to their home business.
Here are Four Simple Ways to Create a Team Culture…
1. You have a team even if you don’t have a team. (You must first think and act like a leader before you can ever have a team.)
2. Build a team by example. (Everything you do, in and outside your business shows how you lead, so be sure you are playing your A-game.)
3. Make teamwork fun. (Participate in team trainings and events added with a spice of fun. i.e. team party, team event, etc.)
4. Inspire others to feel empowered to lead a team. (Allow others to take the lead.)
What are some very simple ways you use to create a team culture?

Hey Jerome
One way is to create a mastermind group where everyone can share their marketing experiences and results.
New members can ask questions and actually receive a response from the other group members.
It creates a culture of support.

I think the most important part is that of being a good leader. It is unfortunate that most leaders today are self-centered thereby making themselves ineffective in handling their people. Perhaps we must learn the characteristics which will make an effective leader.

I like your points on creating a team culture. I think it helps to ask for others input. This really helps people feel that they are contributing to the group.

Hey Jerome,
Good points you’ve made here. I’d add trust as a key ingredient. Once you’ve picked your team (hopefully you’ve qualified them first), make sure they feel empowered and trusted to do what they have to do.

I have all my existing team members welcome a new member on my Facebook business page. We’ve become quite a little community there and it really is a wonderful way of welcoming people to the team. We also reach out and assist each other using this communication platform.
I like that idea Karen.
It uses technology that is simple for everyone. Way to go.

Hi Jerome!
I’m part of a team that is scattered in various geographic locations so we cannot connect face to face except for company sponsored events. But we do have team calls every week and we participate in a “virtual book club” to support each other in our personal development. It’s been fun and a great way to connect with each other!
Great post!

I like your “virtual book club” idea, I can see myself doing that.

Hi Jerome,
I find it very important to create a written team mission and a written code of honour. It’s the foundation of all. Potential members can decide whether they want to subscribe to the mission and the code or not. According to my experience, the word “team” is very often abused, especially if there is lacking a mission and a code of honour. Sometimes, there only exists a code of honour without a mission – no better.
Thanks for your post, it makes me think.
Take care

Hi Jerome
a great post and some excellent comments. I agree that thinking and acting like a leader before you even have a team is important.
I think another key quality is believing in your team till they have developed their own strong self belief – especially important with ‘newbies’.

Hi Jerome,
Keeping channels of communication open fosters a team culture. Having the right mindset is the first step but ensuring that you and your team are accessible provides the channels through which interaction can be maintained.

Hi Jerome,
Great points you are sharing here.
As a leader, you need to create a sense of community and great team environment, strengthen your relationship with your team and you will start feeling like you have known each other for a long time.
Weekly team meetings and a buddy system work well.
Thanks for sharing your insights.

One thing I am missing. On a team there will be many different people. If you have a weekly call some people will be there and some won’t, does that mean that the people who don’t participant on the calls aren’t working the business, no but it can. It can also tell you that those people know what they are doing and know where the want to go, don’t needing the weekly calls.
Just my thought. ~Soren

Jerome,
I totally agree with you. When I decided that I wanted to be a leader, I said to myself “If you want to be a leader, then be a leader”.
The very next day I went into my companies main chat and connected with a couple people. That very day we created a master mind team.
It only started with the 3 of us, but the numbers has increased.

Sometimes we are afraid that we won’t be a good leader. That we will fail. That we will not get the approval from others. This can hold us back from becoming the leader we are capable of. I know I have thoughts sometimes that I can’t do it, but then I come back to how much I want to lead and create a powerful team.

Hi Jerome,
These are really great tips for a person to get on the leadership path. I especially like Tip #1. You really do have to have a leader mindset BEFORE you can become a leader. A person needs to get out there and show determination, consistency and forward thinking. Before you know it, you’ll be a leader!
Mentor Mama
Hi Nancy,
Tip #1 is one of those a lot of people forget about. Thankfully it doesn’t have to be that way.
