One Little, Two Little, Three Little Articles

Four little, five little, six little… Have you ever had a song so stuck in your head that you can’t get it out?

One Little Two Little Three Little ArticlesThis seems to always happen to me, but what’s weird is somehow when I hear these songs, they tend to include business related terms.

LOL:)

I guess you can tell where my head is!

For the last two years I have been actively engaged in article marketing, but what I’ve learned in the last six months has changed how I now approach it.

You have probably heard this before…

Write a few articles a day and submit them to different article marketing sites by just changing some of the wording in each article, so that each one is unique.

I’m still an advocate of that but what has changed is the quality I put into those articles. Here, I’ll give you an example.

Let’s say I write an article about article marketing (for a lack of better topic) and I put some meat into it which gives the readers a bit of an example in how to leverage this tool.

With this article, the word count closely comes to about 400 words. Now, you may think that’s enough.

But does the word count really matter. Yes, because it’s a requirement, but not really, unless the amount of value you jam pack into that article exceeds everyone’s expectation.

That’s the little secret I’ve been harnessing for the last six months. From the articles I now write, my plan is to really exceed expectations.

Sometimes that may mean the word count is low and many other times it’s well over the requirement, like 800 words.

Think of it this way, do you think I can share all there is to know about article marketing in 2 sentences? Probably not.

How about a few paragraphs? Possibly.

But what if we had the information spawning across 10-12 paragraphs. Do you think you would have a better chance of understanding it?

I Would Say So!

(It’s definitely a better approach.)

So what I want to share with you is not so much about how many articles you put out there, but how many “good” ones you put out.

It only takes one good article to exceed expectations rather than 10-15 mediocre articles.

This can make a difference for your business because it will mean better click through rates to your website, less time spent in article marketing and submission, and also it will bring in more interested prospects to you because of the value you provide.

To know if you’re exceeding expectations in your article, what I always do is give more than enough examples.

Because everyone thinks differently, it’s preferred to speak to those different people by using multiple examples.

Isn’t that our goal for the article in the first place… to create interest and speak to our target audience?

Absolutely!

And this is why, if you are seriously considering to leverage article marketing, please take this approach. It will give you the well deserved recognition.

More recognition means more business for you.

So, why not approach it this way.

Are you an advocate of submitting a lot of articles or just a few that can significantly change someone’s life?

Let us know… We always love to hear from YOU. So, thank you for that.

Take care,

Jerome Ratliff

  • Jerome!

Now I can’t get that song out of my
    head…

I’m definitely a fan of quality.

There’s so much garbage out there, but I think
it’s important to work the quantity game too.

I was listening to a guy who writes really
short articles last night… bangs them out
fast and quickly dominates the directories
    for his keywords.

But even then, it comes down to
quality… even if an article is brief.

    • Hey Jason,

      Thanks for stopping by.

So true, there’s too much garbage out there and why I’m all for quality first, then quantity.
I always enjoy your take on these sort of topics, so I really do appreciate your feedback.

  • Hey Jerome,

    Great info on article marketing!

For sure quality is important. Sometimes it is not easy to jam pack information into a short article. So you have to go to 600-800 words. As long as you are keeping your reading in the article and not boring them. It will be a winner.

I’ve seen some long & boring articles that are not fun to read.

    Chat with you later…

  • Hi Jerome,

Yes, the value factor is what it’s all about (not the hokey pokey?).

Sorry, couldn’t help myself — but you started it!

Anyway, Seth Godin’s stuff is usually pretty short and to the point — but I always get some great insights from him.

    See you later alligator,

  • Hi Jerome

    Nice post

    Quality is the way forward.
Having a lot of rubbish will only bring rubbish (ok you may get a few bronze coins, but the majority will be rubbish).

I wouldn’t click through to someones site if what I had just read was rubbish!

Now what I have read here is quality, good advise and so I feel it my duty to say THANKS.

  • Hey Jerome,

Nice approach. I am all about quality. I don’t like to publish anything that doesn’t show the level of quality that I have built myself up to.

I have a hard time with short and sweet. I usually have a lot to say. So keeping high quality and writing copy that keeps readers involved, and hanging on every word is a must.

    Great post, and great advice.
