Ides of March-eting Madness

Today marks the first day of March and I thought what better thing to write about then Marketing or for the sake of March – Marcheting. :)

Ides of Marketing MadnessIn the world of the home business, the number one thing that can ever turn into business is prospects.

As we know, there are different methods for acquiring prospects.

Regardless of your approach, what it all comes down to is marketing yourself and what you have to offer.

When marketing what you do have to offer there are some key pieces to keep in mind.

You are either…

1) Focusing on the results you want.

2) Focusing on what your prospect wants.

Which one of the two do you think is more important?

Yes, that’s correct… “Focusing on what your prospect wants.”

Sure we have a business that we run a certain way and we are looking for certain people, and we are not to derail this. However, a part of working with the prospects is to determine what it is they want out having a home business and what their goals are.

In marketing if the emphasis was placed on these wants, while obviously including the key benefits of your team/product, you may be able to directly speak to them. And they’ll be listening.

It’s pure madness out there where you will see so many different styles where home business owners are starving to get the attention of their prospects. You see things like…

Create wealth from home, guaranteed!

Turn $10 into $58,755 in two months!

Heads up! Get in at the beginning of this new business opportunity.

Who are these phrases speaking to and are they directly related to what the person wants?

I’m going to share some insightful information with you, which you may initially disagree but I assure you this is 100% true.

You hear the stories of people that have amounted a lot of wealth, lots of cool toys like a speed boat, Rolex watches, sixteen different sports cars, and many vacation homes.

Do you think these people are happy with what they have? Sure, they’re grateful for having the success to bring about all of these goodies, but one thing you may not know is they don’t typically feel fulfilled.

Why do you think this is?

Well, it’s because the possession of materialistic objects doesn’t bring long-term happiness. Instead, the joy they are bringing to others is much more fulfilling.

This is why you hear stories of mega-millionaires who decide to give back by getting more involved in the world.

This is because they need to be fulfilled.

Knowing this sort of information, you can tell what is it your prospects are really after.

What they are after is more time, freedom to do as they please, and a sense of purpose.

Is your marketing offering these KEY benefits?

Or you just like everyone else who is promoting the same thing?

Feel free to share with us your key benefits you provide to your prospects.

Talk to you soon,

  • Hey Jerome,

This is a great topic! Most network marketers don’t approach their business just like you lay it for them. This is important to know what your prospect are looking for and want.

If you don’t know this information. You’ll be all over the place and eventually get burned out.

    Great stuff!

  • Jerome,
I love the article! It is unbelievable the numbers of people that go out their and market to what they think their target market wants instead listening, interacting, and finding out for sure. There are websites all over the place that are done the wrong way.

    Great post,
    Eric

    • Cool – glad you liked this post Eric.

I think it was Tim Sales that taught me that we had to do is listen to our prospects first. Then get in sync with what they want.

Sounds like you too have seen your share of these websites going all about it wrong. :(

  • Hey Jerome

The great Zig Ziglar said it best “You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want”.

The key to this is to KNOW what they WANT. Help them get it and you will get what you want.

This is a simple lesson which is priceless.

    Great post

    • What a great quote Dwayne. I’m big fan of Zig’s work.

On a side note, he’s got his own iPod Podcast and it has his greatest moments (words of inspiration). Check it out sometime.

  • Hi Jerome,

Great post, man. My definition of an entrepreneur is “one who solves people’s problems for a profit or for pay.”

I definitely agree with you that there’s more to life than fancy cars and bling.

If you go after people with that message — you’ll just have a list of a bunch of suckers who think Network Marketing is a lotto ticket.

  • Hey Jerome,

You raised some valid points there, if we all focus on what our prospects want we will see better results.

It has been proven time and time again that if you provide value which your market appreciates or needs you will be successful.

Thanks for the post my friend.

  • Hey Jerome,

    Great post Brother,

I think giving is the most fulfilling thing that we can do in life. It just makes you feel good to help someone. Real happiness only comes from helping others be happy.

    Thanks for this Jerome.
